Overview & highlights
The elegant Palazzo Ruspoli was built in the second half of the 16th century for a wealthy Florentine family and was later acquired by the Ruspoli family in the second half of the 17th century who still reside in it today. From the beginning, the palace has hosted ambassadors, becoming a high society meeting place, a venue for diplomatic negotiations and the place “to see and be seen.”
Amongst some of the residents here were Emperor Napoleon III who lived here in 1830 with his mother, Hortense Beauharnais, the former Queen of Holland. Today, on the north side of the palace La Residenza Napoleone III has three magnificent rooms (about 150sq. meters) each more impressive than the other with antique furniture, massive old oil paintings, XVI century tapestries and parquets floors.
A stay in these luxurious quarters gives some idea of how history, art and taste all intertwine together. Guests enter the Palazzo through massive wooden doors and pass along an elegant arcade of Doric columns. A grand marble staircase, lined with antique marble busts of Roman Emperors and leads up to the entrance of the apartments. This is the ultimate in regal luxury amongst a warm and tranquil environment in the heart of Rome.
Located in the heart of ancient Rome on the legendary Via dei Condotti, the city’s most upscale shopping street lined with Italy’s famous designers such as: Valentino, Bulgari, Max Mara, Armani, Gucci, Ferragamo, Fendi, Tod’s and Prada. Walking distance to restaurants, café’s, parks, shops and major historical sites 30 km from Fiumicino Airport 32 km from Ciampino Airport 3 km from Rome’s Central Station
