When many Roman’s decide to take off for a weekend in the sun a most popular choice is the Island of Ponza.  One of the most beautiful beaches being la spiaggia Chiaia di Luna (and there are many amazing seaside positions on the waters edge in Ponza).  A favorite past time of mine is spending lazy days reading my book sitting close to the waters edge or purely gazing up into the blue sky.  At Chiaia di Luna the feeling is surreal looking up at the cliff face that forms this magnificent seafront.

Arriving at this beach makes it even more special with the walk through the dark old Roman tunnel towards the aqua marine crystal light.  To arrive in Ponza from Rome the trip is only just over an hour by train followed by a more often than not crowded ferry to the main port that is lined with outdoor cafe’s and cocktail bars.  This island is very peaceful, easygoing and a paradise so close yet just far enough, it’s easy to see why the Romans flock here on balmy weekends. xmm
