Villa d’Este is made up of three magnificently renovated 19th Century villas that are located within the resort’s 25-acre park. Both Villa Malakoff and Villa Cima are available for short term tenancies with full hotel service.
Villa d’Este is situated in Cernobbio on the edge of the lake in Como. The hotel is easy to reach and has an exclusive and very private position with breathtaking gardens, a portion of the lower garden dates back to the Renaissance period featuring a 16th century Mosaic with its Nympheum as one of its most famous landmarks.

A walk through the gardens at Villa d’Este is a must experience, they are not just any old garden, these private gardens present a large variety of perfectly kept botanical species such as the magnificent tall Cupressus Sempervirens native from the Eastern Mediterranean and introduced into Italy by Phoenicians. The beautiful Hydrangea Ortensis bloom in florescent pink, azure or white colours during summer but flowers seem to remain throughout the autumn months also. The Magnolia Grandiflora are absolutely breathtaking with flowers resembling a large white cup and they have an strong lemon scent. Also amongst the gardens you will find Populus Nigra, Rosa Nigra, Camellias, Wisteria and even citrus lemons amongst many other stunning botanicals.

Villa Cima was built on the grounds of Villa d’Este in 1814 by Caroline of Brunswick who was Queen of the United Kingdom and the wife of King George IV from 29th January 1820 until her death in 1821. Between 1795 and 1820, she was Princess of Wales. The villa boats magnificent views, is filled with priceless artworks and offers complete privacy. Luxurious decor in the living room, dining room, sleeping quarters, and in the spacious kitchen.
Villa Malakoff sits on a small hill within the grounds of Villa d’Este and offers superb views over the lake. Villa Garrovo is located within the hotels gardens only moments from the Cardinal building offering beautiful views over the lake and garden. It was built in 1833 and was completely refurbished in 2015. For families looking for a private Villa on the lake this is the ideal place to stay. A stunning spacious living room with views over the Lake, 6 bedrooms with marble bathrooms over three floors, a fully equipped kitchen and a private gym and relaxing room. The design is classic/modern with a private veranda and a second large terrace.

SUNDECK ‘POOL BAR’ is situated outside overlooking the floating swimming pool and serves light lunches and snacks. BAR CANOVA is open all day serving light snacks.
The lakeside TERRACE BAR serves drinks and snacks under chestnut trees and D’ESTE CLUB & LAKE TERRACE is open from April to the end of October on Saturdays from 10.00 pm to 1.00 am and in summer if the weather is fine the band plays on the lake front terrace under the stars from 10.00pm until midnight.
