Morning: A morning of great pleasure cruising in the supercars to Matera with an English-speaking guide. One of the oldest cities in the world, the so called Sassi and Rupestrian Churches are enchanting to all visitors: houses stacked one on top of the other and united by winding little roads and wide staircases, literally built inside the rock and mountain tuff. Matera is like a giant sculpture in the centre of the Murgia Plateau. Such a wonder explains why the Sassi have being named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Matera is also known for being the filming location of “The Passion of the Christ” by Mel Gibson.

DAY 5 – Caserta – Rome

Morning: From Sorrento, we will then drive to the Royal Palace of Caserta, a former royal residence to the Kings of Naples. The visit here will be with an  English-speaking guide of one of the largest palaces erected in Europe during the 18th century. In 1997, the palace was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In terms of volume, the Royal Palace of Caserta is the largest royal residence in the world boasting 1.200 rooms. Lunch will be in Caserta.

Afternoon: Drive towards Rome without entering into the Capital and visit a very unique property to stay overnight at the refined La Posta Vecchia Hotel. The hotel is built on the site of an ancient villa and 17th-century castle, which served as the region’s stately post station and provided a palatial home to billionaire Paul Getty. Additional Etruscan flavour comes thanks to the artefact – private museum, which showcases Roman ruins and statuary discovered onsite. The dinner will be served at The Cesar, the restaurant of the Hotel situated on a terrace, overlooking the sea. The location is a hidden gem.
