  • ORVIETO PRIVATE DAY TRIP: The Jewel of Umbria

    Join your private guide on a magical day trip from Rome to the historic, hill top town of Orvieto in Umbria.

    Originally established as an Etruscan village before being taken over by the ancient Romans in the 3rd century BC, before becoming the refuge of the Popes in the 16th century, Orvieto’s history has been as colourful as it has been long. Today Orvieto is a charming village and one of the homes of the ‘Slow Food’ movement.

    On this day trip from Rome, you will begin by exploring the intriguing doubled-helixed, 53 metre deep St. Patrick’s Well, designed in the 16th century by the renowned Florentine Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. After continue your journey into town before exploring the complex Etruscan and medieval underground tunnels of the city.

    After you will head to one of the oldest ‘Norcinera’ in Orvieto to taste some amazing local salumi and cheeses before heading to a small local restaurant for lunch to enjoy local delicacies and drink some famous Orvieto wine.

    After lunch explore the small workshop of a local female ceramics artist, before heading to magical world of the artistic celebrity known to the locals as the “Wizard of Oz’. The tour finishes with a visit to the magnificent 13th century cathedral.

  • Ancient Waters: Baths and Spas Private Tour

    In ancient times Romans were masters at managing water, a resource so precious its absence could topple empires or provoke wars. This unique private driving tour transports you from the Imperial ruins of Rome’s most important bathing complex past its aqueducts, marvels of ancient engineering, before concluding in a luxurious spa experience at an exclusive, Roman-style complex.

    This tour begins at the Imperial Baths of Caracalla, built by Emperors Septimus Severus and Caracalla between 212 and 216 A.D. This monumental bathing complex encompassed 25 hectares, and not only contained the bathing halls but spacious gymnasiums, massage parlours and libraries.

    After you will travel to the Park of the Aqueducts to view the 1st century AD Aqua Claudia and the 16th century Aqua Felice.

    The tour concludes with a relaxing treat at the private and serene QC Terme Spa. Here, in this renovated historic farm complex, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the ancient Roman art of bathing. This luxurious spa has been constructed to mimic the thermae of the ancient Romans. You’ll try out the caldarium (hot bath), tepidarium (warm bath) and frigidarium (cold bath), and laze by the many thermal pools to relax like the Romans did (bathing suit required). Lunch is also included.

There are so many important and beautiful sights, to see them all in a short space of time and to understand the historical importance is difficult unless you are being guided by an experienced and knowledgable licensed guide. Our private guides understand Rome exceptionally well and will guide you to see the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Plus in the historical centre we can include the famous Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and the world famous Spanish Steps.

    You will skip long lines at the Vatican entrance ensuring that you make the very most of your time with us. Touring the Vatican collection of museums can be completely overwhelming so we will guide you to see the very best and will offer you a solid view of the collection and famous works of art. The Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica can be included depending on your preferred choice of sights, we will tailor the day to accommodate your time constraints.

    Our expert guide can accompany you in a private transfer from your hotel reception in the city centre to the Vatican in order to save valuable time. Private transport can also be organised between the Vatican and the Colosseum.

    We will schedule a short break in-between tours for lunch.
