Christmas stars and sparkles..

Buon Natale Tutti.. It’s the week that Santa is preparing to load his sleigh so that he can deliver toys to all the little children around the world.  Christmas is a time for family and friends to be together.  All over Italy celebrations and the festive season are prevalent, the narrow cobble stone streets in Rome and Florence are lined with red carpet and many are dressed with dripping fairy lights, stars and sparkles that hang from the rooftops.
Christmas stores are filled with decorations of delicate Venetian glass ornaments from the island of Morano and other wonderful festive decorations.  Every year in Rome right in the middle of Piazza Pio XII or St. Peters square outside the entrance to the Vatican stands a 30 meter high Christmas tree with basket ball size baubles in different colours and the Vatican also shows an impressive live size Christmas Nativity scene that is blessed by the Pope.  This brought tears to my eyes, it can be quite overwhelming seeing such detailed historic beauty in such a holy place and the tree was the most spectacular I had ever seen.

Wishing you all a happy, safe and MERRY CHRISTMAS..

BUON NATALE!
