Tuscany and its rolling hills with the beautiful Mediterranean Cypress..

The rolling Tuscan hills really are everything you expect and so much more!
I just had to share this wonderful perfect picturesque scene that I took from the train on my way through Bella Tuscany.  I am fascinated by the Mediterranean Cypress, they are the visionary symbol that you expect to see throughout the rolling hills of Tuscany.  Funnily enough we also have these beautiful trees full of dense dark green foliage in Australia and they can also be found in Lybia, Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon and Malta just to name a few countries, so they are not native to Italy yet Tuscany seems to have adopted these proud and highly impressive trees.  The first time I saw these trees in Tuscany was in the opening scenes of my favourite movie ‘Under the Tuscan Sun‘, I was intrigued at how beautiful they were so when I saw them with my own eyes for real on my travels through Italy, I couldn’t help but glare out the window in disbelief that this charming scene was real, just like in the movie, to me and I think possibly to many others these trees symbolise the rolling hills of Tuscany.
I remember when I was young and Mum, Dad and my sister and I used to jump in the car and head to Perisher Valley which is a ski resort in the snowy mountains down under in New South Wales, there are areas of the drive that the roads are lined with these lovely trees, and ever since I had those first childhood memories they have been my all time favourite trees.  It was simply a bonus when I discovered beautiful Italy and the rolling Tuscan hills also boast the lovely Mediterranean Cypress.
I have also found a lovely hard cover book for your coffee table if you are interested on Italian landscape and architecture.. here and if you need help creating a Mediterranean garden look.. here
