On a recent trip to Venice, one of the most evocative places in the world renowned for its medieval beauty amongst a romantic setting of narrow canals running off the world famous Grand Canal, I was enjoying getting lost amongst the perfectly manicured back streets in Dorsoduro and stumbled across a little pop-up art studio.
The young artist had created themed panoramic images on old records and record covers made entirely out microscopic pin-holes.
Very clever and a totally unexpected find, this is why I love visiting Dorsoduro, a more peaceful and bohemiam area in Venice that always seems to surprise and entertain with an eclectic mix of galleries, boutiques, restaurants and often quality street vendors humming to their own Venetian tunes. Dorsoduro is also home to two of Venice’s most famous galleries, the Peggy Guggenheim Gallery and Gallerie dell’Accademia, plus the spectacular Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute seen in the below photo..
